| Image scanning at airports to further violate the private sphere | December 31, 2009 |
It is understandable that authorities take preemptive action to reinforce security for passengers in light of such terrible incidents. But it is unreasonable to have the public pay the price of an unsafe environment, namely the need to scan every passenger, because of failed international policies. A wider use of imaging scanners will provide authorities with yet more information on individuals. The world is engaged in a war that, really, is not directed against terrorism, but against individual freedoms. That war cannot be won. People have a right to their legitimate aspirations. Actions against freedoms must be justified strictly on a case of legitimate defense. Now, while Al Quaeda used camps in Afghanistan to organize terrorist actions against the West, a direct implication of the Taliban was never established. And so states are causing the trouble the public endures today because of misperceptions of the reality on the ground. Excessive freedom of action employed into the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan now fires back with yet more restricted freedoms for the public, and serves the cause of terrorism. In another setback for the West, astronomic military expenditures continue to push taxes on revenues higher and affect people's overall quality of life. The public is enduring the consequences of a vicious cycle of violence that was set in motion by the State as it always seems to reacts disproportionately to events. It will surprise no one the day this cycle will have reached the nuclear level. Meanwhile, the public is not responsible for these failed policies and spontaneous heroes like Jasper Schuringa cannot change the course of events over time, if these policies do not deal with the underlining problems. | In some countries, organs are retrieved without a patient's consent | December 10, 2009 |
  Jerry
Lee says it: the psychological damage that organ transplants cause to living donors -
see study - is
reason enough to stop that practice immediately, instead, to focus only on cadaveric donors as a source of organ transplants.
In addition, the exclusive ownership of one's body rests in the hands of the individual or
the deceased - beyond the stage of cerebral death - which excludes any role that the
State may want to embody in these matters. This also means, that an individual's physical
integrity may only be violated with the consent of the deceased as expressed in his Last Will.
Withdrawing the remainder of life from a deceased to transplant an organ into a patient cannot
be justified by a case of self-defense as the cadaveric donor is not responsible for the receiver's state
of health. Therefore, Jerry Lee rejects the opt-out system or any assumption of an agreement on
organ retrieval before, during or after cerebral death, while recognizing the need for more donors
by requiring people to express their wishes on their ID cards for as long as no other appropriate
mean to battle the scarcity of organ donors is found. Meanwhile, states must promote scientific
research in promising fields such as stem cells with the hope that some day geneticists

| Human tragedies call for improved long-term social development | November 25, 2009 |
Instead of promoting larger families to buffer problems related to a change in people's age-structure, authorities of developed countries that experience a rate of birth under the minimum replacement level should take advantage of stronger immigration flows to ensure a constant level of population over the long run. Money for medical and food assistance to troubled regions should be used to help refugees from countries like Somalia, Afghanistan or Pakistan emigrate to developed countries and integrate in modern societies. The financial proceeds of their integration through employment, for example, should help those refugees assist members of their family that remained in the country. Restrictive demographic policies coupled with higher immigration flows could well lead to a substantial reduction of the need of public assistance to these countries over time. The faster states implement these policies, the faster they may be able and willing to open up to immigration flows, even if prioritizing younger populations. Of course, a fast-track immigration process also calls for a careful social integration of the concerned. Read also gw's policy on

| Rome meeting on hunger taken lightly despite urgency to act | November 19, 2009 |
A growing divide between Muslims and Christians occurs when UN summits are visited by a parade of Arab representatives in search of forbidden pleasures, and Westerns are unable to respond to global challenges. From this split emerges an ideology based on religious national socialism, very similar to the one that existed in Nazi Germany - see When History Repeats -, that imposes a New Order with false promises. Gadaffi's sermon in Rome shows a strengthening momentum of global islamization that builds on the many socially-disintegrated Muslim communities of Europe and the United States. Particularly disturbing is Gaddafi's understanding of laicity following which religion must not be "put into the State", while statesmen - like himself - preach the virtues of religion, and tell of the need to convert. But Jerry Lee says it, despite anti-discrimination laws, no law of nature can allow freedom of religion to violate any other individual freedoms. If religious activities or symbols threaten social peace or create outrage, whatever the arguments, they must be forbidden. Therefore, if a substantial share of voters opposes the construction of minarets, the proof of social discontent is given. Preemptive measures justified on a case of proportionate legitimate defense, which aim is to restrict excesses of freedom, will be needed to ensure peace over time. | Crisis in Swiss-Lybian relations escalates | November 10, 2009 |
While there is no single roadmap to development, some states are rogue states. They overreact. But overreaction to some government's policies or decisions, in this case the arrest of Annibal, even if made in the strongest terms, is an expression of indignation, that no one should oppose. On the contrary, overreaction must be dealt with diplomatically. Confrontation, or a circle of psychological violence maintained with measures of retaliation is dangerous and counter-productive. Instead, States must prioritize progress over regression, even if that means to apologize for mistakes they have not committed. Therefore, Jerry Lee applauds Swiss president Merz for his spontaneous apologies to Lybia on August 20, but sincerely regrets the measures of retaliation taken later. He strongly recommends Swiss diplomats to continue lobbying towards a fair settlement of the dispute. While it is natural to express regrets to incidents, it is not necessary to bow to any request made by rogue states. He also encourages international organizations such as Amnisty, as well as the international community, to increase diplomatic pressure for an immediate release of the hostages. As for the authorities in Geneva who refuse to apologize and who stick to principles of justice, Jerry Lee says it, it is just fine to be proud of one's own legal system. But he also cautions, international relations cannot be regulated on pride and a personal view of justice alone. | Oxfam says Afghans need more aid | November 19, 2009 |
The Afghan war with its fears and victims; the corruption with its crimes and abuses; the poverty with those who live on $ 1 per day; eventually, the deception of undelivered promises; these are the demons that plague Afghanistan today. It is not the archaic culture of the Taliban, neither its potential threat to world peace, but Western attitude towards a Society that does not care less about our democracies or sacrifices, that is an obstacle to development. International assistance in a country that baths in blood because of our own destructive power, political goals and mistakes is a dramatic irony of History. In defeat or victory, at some point, justice calls on the door of those who messed it up, to demand reparations, because whatever we undertake in these countries, it will always be bad enough. Therefore, this monstrous war fabricated in the Bush era must stop. A truce and peace settlement must be signed immediately, even as massive flows of emigration from Afghanistan can be expected. As wealthy countries, it is our moral duty to welcome Afghans and to use international assistance to integrate them in their new social environment. Meanwhile, states and nations have a right to develop socially and economically at their own pace, however slow this may be. | Obama receives Nobel Peace Prize amidst controversy | October 20, 2009 |
All of Obama's relevant speeches on Dialogue with the Arabs and Denuclearization were made under his presidency this year, not 'during the preceding year', and whatever speeches a president may give, they are just promises to do, until they are realized in cooperation with conflicting parties. Cooperation, not speeches, is the hard bit! And so, the timing and achievements do not comply with the terms and conditions of the statutes of the Nobel Foundation. Most importantly, in good politics, angels dance with evils; like trojans, they fights from within the camp of the adversary. Look at Britain, an excellent trojan example in European diplomacy. While it was fundamentally opposed to European integration, it strived to improve ties with the EU, not for further integration, but to guard national interests. Now, spoiled by a prize he says he does not deserve, burdened by people's great expectations, and drawn into an Afghan war that only compares to Iraq for its futility, Barack Obama's credibility is at stake. To avoid a repeat of similar cases, where political talent is labelled with peace stickers before anything is accomplished, prizes must be granted only to those who deserve them and to honor those who grant them. | French Culture Minister caught in political scandale over sex life
| October 10, 2009 |
Jerry Lee views prostitution as one of this world's evil. There is no such thing as 'consenting' prostitution for as long as individuals work to survive - see OECS -, and newborns see the light when those in need suffer from hunger. Prostitutes, whether males or females, are victims of a violation of their fundamental rights, namely, the right to a protected private sphere, a freedom on which all other freedoms are based. While those who breach others' freedoms believe they can get away with it, victims remember and reply to their headmen. The capacity to live freely suddenly is impaired by the burden of culpability. A book shared with the public cannot relieve anyone from that burden, because the morally unjustifiable is not acceptable. Therefore, Jerry Lee demands that Mitterrand undergoes a Psyco Test immediately and requests that his book be withdrawn as soon as possible to discourage the trade of prostitution and the industry of sexual tourism. Gw also added Mitterrand on its Demoniac Attitudes file. | Roman Polanski arrested in Zurich, Switzerland | September 30, 2009 |
Jerry Lee understands the arrest of Polanski as a matter of state, that is, in the best interest of Switzerland. Lost in the middle of a hostile Europe, Switzerland seems encouraged by US intentions seeking to develop priviledged relations with the alpine state; cooperation on judiciary matters may just be another show of loyalty towards the US. As a result, politically and legally, Polanski's arrest was a sound decision. Morally speaking, however, the decision sets another bad example of state politics, or instance of state abuse over nation. Social reinsertion - against punishment - as an ultimate goal of a modern legal system has never made more sense since death penalty was abolished in the EU. Today, criminals must be perceived as individuals with specific needs. While criminals must be treated in isolated locations to protect the community, countries with limited extradition treaties may accept to shelter them and take on the burden of their reinsertion. When remorse, compensation and reinsertion are evidenced in real life, when the victim forgives the author, what else than a feeling of revenge and despicable violence could require a criminal to respond to society for a mistake he made three decades ago? Therefore, Jerry Lee demands that the USJD bring the Polanski case to a civilized level, in accordance to a modern legal system, and stop prosecution against the concerned immediately. | UN finds evidence of Israeli and Hamas war crimes in Gaza conflict | September 16, 2009 |
Jerry Lee applauds the conclusions of the report. He also approves Obama's and J Street's efforts for peace in the Middle East. The latter's progressive views oppose that of the AIAC, Washington's powerful and conservative Israeli's lobby group, in that, it aims at compromising with the Palestinians for a two-state solution and demands an immediate end to the expansion of Jewish settlements on Palestinian territories. Gw demands a major change in international policy towards Israel and asks the international community to agree on a new UN resolution that explicitly rejects any territorial expansion since the Six-Day War of 1967 without an agreement of the parties involved. Additionally, Jerry Lee demands that a UN resolution sets a deadline for a peace settlement. | Malaysian model accepts sufferance as a mean of education | December 31, 2009 |
Jerry Lee describes Shukarno's attitude and statements as mentally insane, because they oppose human progress. The issue at stake is not the pleasure of submission or domination, typically known in sexual behavior, but the longing of physical sufferance also expressed in Christian rituals with auto-flagellation. Physical sufferance or violence, in cases not justified by legitimate defense, is unacceptable. Shukarno's desire to be punished in presence of family members, after an earlier request to be caned in public was rejected by local authorities, confirms a mental disorder characterized by a mix of exhibitionism and masochism. Shukarno's instance is good evidence of how much some people lack self respect. Individuals who oppose their own rights and freedoms as a way of life end up fighting against the rights and freedoms of fellow individuals. As a terrible example of human spirit, their statements land in gw's Demoniac Attitudes file where they are commented in light of the laws of nature. | US growing need for money strains others | July 15, 2009 |
After President Obama said there were "glimmers of hope" for a US economic stabilization, Treasury Secretary Geithner toured the world to signal economic recovery, leaving the door open to the exact meaning of "economic recovery". US household debt peaked at USD 13.9 trillion in 2008, twice the figure of 2000. After housholds slashed spendings in the financial crisis, debt fell to just USD 13.8 trillion the following year, a drop described by some as 'glacial'. Harvard University's Kenneth Rogoff, a former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund, says "The kind of deleveraging we need to see takes six or eight years... The retrenching of the US consumer is a huge adjustment the world is going to have to absorb". And Jerry Lee says it, debt requirement of the US government in the next couple of years will strain financial markets as they seek to finance their own debt. More than financial bailouts and public spending on infrastructure, subsidies to the unemployed and fiscal stimulus to reduce household debt would have more effectively helped the economy. | Important religious group in Iran backs Reformists | July 8, 2009 |
The Islamic Republic of Iran seems today more fragile than ever, and may find itself at an important junction in History. The iranian state may either become more democratic or radical. In 1933, when the Reichstag (Germany's Parliament) was put on fire, Hitler and his Nazi followers took complete control over the country. Opponents were arrested and many of them executed under suspicion of collaborating with Communists or ploting against Germany in the interests of foreign governments. Today, History may repeat. Reformists may lose their battle against the current state of order and suffer the consequences. So, what are the options to stop the iranian threat? Saddly enough, a war against Iran would serve the interests of the current government as external threats are used by politicians to rally their people behind their miserable causes and to build formal dictatorships. By contrast, opting for a containment strategy, as exposed in gw's Tactical Solutions, may be more efficient over time. Let us not forget that the millions of Iranians who demonstrated peacefully in June evidenced a desire to break away from the archaic values of the Revolution. We ought to support these people with the same peaceful interests. Read also When History Repeats and Empire States. This is gw's Iran Containment 2009 strategy.

| Reformists in Iran confronted to a theocractic reality | June 17, 2009 |
Whatever is done in name of freedom and democracy, Mousavi's attempt to change politics in the country will face the conservatism of Khamenei. The latter's backing of one of the candidate, namely Ahmadinejad, is Mousavi's own political failure. And by no means will Iran change its dictatorial and arbitrary system over night. To understand this system think about the Guardian Council, defender of the Iranian Constitution. The organ is composed of 12 Jurists. Six are elected directly by Khamenei and six others among Jurists chosen by the Head of the Judicial Power, himself directly appointed by Khamenei. This regime's obsession for power or excessive ruling of state over nation makes any election by the people an illusive exercise of civil rights. Iran's records on human-rights are as frightening as its foreign policies. They should justify with or without the Russians and Chinese more aggressive economic sanctions. Iranian reformists who are threatened by the regime should be given the means to quit Iran and establish in Europe or in the US. Jerry Lee also wishes to congratulate iranfocus, a reformist website, for naming Iranian officials involved in crimes against the people of Iran. | Pakistani government responds violently to Taliban's aspirations | May 28, 2009 |
Jerry Lee calls onto the Pakistani and Afghan governments to negotiate a Taliban autonomous region in the north of their respective countries where the Taliban ideology may exist and prosper following the Shariah laws and Taliban traditions, which also includes the choice of judges. An agreement should allow non-Talibans to quit the region and find new homes in neighbouring regions of states. Jerry Lee believes Taliban geographical advances in Pakistan can only be stopped if governments are more respectuous towards distinct ideologies. While the threat to security may exist even after agreements are reached with these ideologies, military threats are best handled when limited to geographic areas and when confronted in conventional ways rather than dragged into guerilla warefare, typically known in disintegrated countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan. | Miss California's biased views discriminates minorities | May 13, 2009 |
Even though Miss California found it "great" that the US Constitution provided for a choice for every American to marry, her answer ended very unsupportive of gay marriages when she said that marriage was something that "should" be between a man and a woman. She later publicly confirmed being against same-sex marriages. Her statements are disturbing, in that, they exclude minorities from the institution of marriage and the rights bound to it. Furthermore, Miss California's decision to implant breasts with the assistance of MCP is unacceptable too. While the decision provides Miss Prejean with a greater appeal to a majority of male Americans, who prefers large breasts, it excludes the preferences of other Americans who prefer smaller breasts... By using aesthetic surgery to appeal to the masses, Mrs Pageant is rejecting her individuality and contributing to create a destructive standard of beauty, in that, it describes beauty only with large breasts. Her decision is disrespectful to nature as an expression of art and diversity, and sends a wrong signal to women who feel insecure about their physical aspect. For all these reasons, Jerry Lee put Miss California, as well as MCP, that subsidized her breast implants, into gw's Demoniac Attitudes' file. | Keys to prevent spread of swine flue and other viruses neglected | May 6, 2009 |
Jerry Lee calls upon governments and world organizations to refocus health policies from readiness and treatment to the long-term prevention of influenza. People are looking for ways to survive pandemic infections. Private organizations are funding scientific research to develop vaccines. Meanwhile, dirty water and food scarcity continue to reduce hygiene in many parts of the world, and people's immunity against infections continue to drop. And governments around the world do not seem to understand the gravity of the situation, relying on pharmaceutical companies to respond to infections, and neglecting their role in disease prevention. Restrictive demographic policies coupled with a substantially higher quality of life for the disadvantaged are paramount in disease prevention. Therefore, Jerry Lee demands that governments build a sustainable world where people's quality of life is prioritized over their numbers. | Sri Lanka vowed to end civil war by crushing Tiger separatists | April 28, 2009 |
This is yet again a gross violation of human rights, hypocritically justified by a state's internationally recognized right of national unity. This patriarchal, ancestral right of the state to dispose of their people as they please is the source of a quarter of all global problems. Jerry Lee condemns the United Nations for allowing states to treat their ethnic minorities with such disrespect, and critizes the governments of Sri Lanka, Turkey, Israel, China, Russia and Georgia for not serving the needs of their people, for committing crimes against these ethnic groups or nationalities, for violating human basic rights of safety and freedom in ways that make their attitudes no different from those of separatists. Refusing to listen to these needs is egopolitics, which has nothing to do with national leadership and management. By contrast, it is this century's expression of barbary. Therefore, Jerry Lee calls onto the UN to have the courage to stand up and reform international laws so that human aspirations of independence may be expressed in an orderly and peaceful manner before oppression turns into rebellion. 16/04 2009: Kidnapping in a world where freedom is misunderstood

Individuals who live in highly uncertain environments tend to misuse their freedoms against those of others. But is the use of freedom in all the mentioned cases legitimate or moral, even if illegal? Pirates who hijack ships and ask for ransoms probably do so because their fishery business no longer provides for a living. A one-off case of hijacking to solve short-term food scarcity could have been justified morally. But when freedom is used to run a multi-million USD scheme of crime, freedom disproportionately affects others freedoms, and becomes the more immoral that those affected have little to do with the underlying problems. And so, poor and honest fishers suddenly turned into immoral criminals. More interesting is the case of sequestrated corporate directors. Jerry Lee believes that the uncertainty produced to many employees by measures of corporate restructuration like layoffs at times when the business makes profits, seems at least as high as the uncertainty caused by an overnight retention of one of the directors. The aim here is not so much to trade one person for better compensatory leave conditions, rather to draw public attention to the uncertainty caused by mass layoffs. By contrast, a mother's love for her child cannot in se justify a kidnapping. The uncertainty caused to the child and the father by the kidnapping is far higher than the feeling of uncertainty produced of living without the child. Supposing the child is being mistreated by the father, alternative means may be found to insure the child's safety. In this story, the child had already been taken away once by the mother. The father travelled to Russia and kidnapped the child to take it back to France. The father's action was equally morally unjustifiable. Read also Jerry Lee's article on Ethics and Freedoms. 07/04 2009: G20 does not answer issues on protectionism

They missed the point. Economic recovery needs economic liberalism, not regulations. Creating what diplomats believe is an ethical financial system may simply add to the problem. Regulations, or better said, the obsession to regulate the environment that surrounds us reminds one of an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a mental disease that points to recurrent and unwanted ideas and an urge or compulsion to do something to relieve the discomfort caused by the obsession. The anxiety of an economic slow-down leads politicians to obsessively seek regulations to control the course of economic events. But the proposed regulations never solve the core problem, which is why OCD patients seek additional regulations in a negative feedback loop. For example, the obsessive idea that tax heavens and bank secrecy laws are one of the causes of the crisis lead to regulations that increase transparency with the aim to control better capital flows and fiscality. These regulations are protectionist measures that oppose the very statements of the summit. Restrictions against tax heavens and bank secrecy laws to block capital movements are like restrictions against corporate delocalization to more efficient production centers. In both cases, market actors are forced to stay in economically uncompetitve environments that produce less effective products and services, and dampen the prospects of economic recovery. Jerry Lee says it, more than ever before, in these difficult economic times, any measure restricting liberalism is counter productive, probably part of an obsessional problem. 27/03 2009: Economic depression looming as leaders seek easy solutions

Governments still have provided no evidence that interventionism to prop up the financial sector is the best road to follow to deal with the crisis. In Western industrialized economies, this year, growth is set to fall by around five percent, while in the US, the rate of unemployment may shoot over ten percent. Politically speaking, it is easier to cover up a crisis with public money than to see large banks closing down. But after Japanese bailed out their financial system back in the 1990s, they faced a depressed economy for over a decade. The reality is, every taxpayer dollar spent to support financial institutions will have to be returned sooner or later whether it is from the pockets of AIG directors - and other high-paid individuals - or from the unemployed; and as governments keep on doing the same mistakes arguing more liberal solutions to handle the crisis would expose the economy to a greater damage, in light of today's economic distress, the effectiveness of public interventionism vs. free-market rules remains to be seen. 17/03 2009: Loss-making businesses reward employees with public money

AIG was 'too big to fail', so the US government spent almost USD 180 bn to shore up the company. The new stimulus package foresees USD 15 bn in fundings to small businesses showing, even small businesses are 'too big to fail'. The trouble is, the money always seems to reach those Americans who earn more. Massive liquidities flow to banks to support high wages and bonuses, to finance acquisitions, at times when aggregate demand is tumbling, or to facilitate credits, when we know that loose regulations on borrowing originated today's crisis. Had the Government only resisted to act too quickly - the first stimulus package was approved by Congress in a matter of two weeks - and listened to the broader scientific community, especially to advocates of free markets - see Letter to Congress -, we would have saved ourselves a lot of today's discussions on who gets what under which circumstances. Whatever Politicians and Economists believe the Government should do to mend the economy, the loss of 650'000 jobs every quarter deserves the worthy debate on how the US will finance unemployment benefits from here on. If the US government's financial choices, which European and most other nations abided, does not produce the expected results soon, substantial social insecurity could evidence a real lack of confidence in this world's leadership. 05/03 2009: Radiation exposure increases health risks, CESP needed

Radiation is a health hazard. Whether from nuclear energy, use of everyday technology or medical screening, the health risks from radiation are so present and abundant that a standard of good practice for the broader scientific community has become indispensable. Currently, the medical profession is bound by the Hyppocratic Oath, one passage of which says "I swear... I will... never do harm to anyone." The modern version of the oath from the Geneva Declaration reads "I solemnly pledge to consecrate my life to the service of humanity... The health of my patient will be my first consideration." Meanwhile, some unscrupulous doctors take unconsidered risks and do not honor the pledge they made, too eager to make a good living. A uniform standard of good practice for all scientists is, therefore, absolutely necessary. Jerry Lee demands that this good practice or Common Ethical Standard of Practice (CESP) be enforced by law, universally. Evidently, the CESP would put an end to nuclear fission as a source of energy. 23/02 2009: US Justice Department threatens Swiss bank secrecy

UBS is one stone too heavy for Switzerland. It must disappear. While a change to bank secrecy laws is unacceptable for Swiss citizens, bilateral agreements may abandon bank secrecy for foreigners and/or non-residents in Switzerland. The issue of tax evasion must be resolved through political means. In a world where athletic performance is praised, it is surprising to see how Switzerland's competitive advantages are criticized. Whereas mistakes must be corrected and duely paid for, the Swiss traditional banking model must not been perceived as a damaging institution, but as an aggregate saving recipient that can stabilize the financial system and reinvent the Economy. Everything else is protectionism. Economic related links and statements can be found in Economy and Jerry's Red Line. Read also Bank Secrecy and Capital Movements. 13/02 2009: Public money to finance birth and living of octuplets

We cannot rely on individuals or culural factors to regulate population growth. Nadya's personal circumstances are human, as they defy the limits of imagination and common sense. They show us that the current approach of laisser-faire is as unsustainable in population growth, as it is in economics. Nadya's irresponsible conduct puts strain on world resources, more limited than ever. Her model conduct contributed to last summer's historic highs of oil and food prices, which forced central banks to raise interest rates with today's known unfortunate effects. If regulations were to be prescribed to limit the risks derived from the irresponsibility of such conducts, lets us make sure they never suffocate human freedoms and creativity. 05/02 2009: German government rebukes Pope Benedict XVI and the Vatican

Jerry Lee extends his deepest sympathy and affection to the Jewish community, including the Jewish community of Israel, and warns people of other communities to not confuse the Jews and the people of Israel, or the Israeli political-class which in many instances do not reflect the opinion of the world jewish community. Globwatch condemns in the strongest terms Richard Williamson's comments and denial of the Holocaust. There is no freedom of expression that can justify these comments which are shocking and revolting. On other related issues, Jerry Lee finds irrespectful subjective criticism made public by individuals on religions or religious symbols (Read gw's Positioning on Freedom of Expression and Religion, and related IPD article NL-April 6, 2008). Jerry Lee reminds extremist groups or political parties, whatever their origins and affiliations, there cannot be a human future without a deep respect for our fellows. 31/01 2009: Exclusive leaders meet in Davos with more of the same ideas

The WEF 2009 is coming to an end. Yet, with no answers to the world's miseries and just the same old paradims. Maybe the WEF is becoming too exclusive a summit to understand the problems of this world. "People are frightened out there" Clinton said, and this is true. Leftists and the politically-incorrect are growing in popularity, as the misnamed "World Forum" excludes them from the discussions. The forum is also wrong in other ways. There are the naive statements. Last year, world leaders suggested optimism for the future. They believed - see gw's Article CH-Jan 27, 2008 - that a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was possible. Instead, this year, we saw almost passively how this conflict with significant international repercussions was left to itself under the absurd assumption that Israel had a right to defend itself. This week, Israel's President, Shimon Peres (Nobel Peace Prize 1994) was given the opportunity to justify the unjustifiable in a long monologue that ended in a diplomatic clash with Turkish PM, Erdogan. Just last year, world leaders like Bill Gates and Koffie Annan believed hunger and disease could be handled with investments in infrastructure and education alone. Today, while these leaders hold their pedantric speeches, more than ever, people die from hunger everywhere around the world, even in Occident - Read HA-February 3, 2008 -. This week, the WEF holds the same speech, with politically-correct arguments knowing that by excluding the Leftists from the debates, the forum loses its purpose, as the quality of discussions is empoverished. Unpopular, but essential issues such as the negative effects of population growth on Society cannot be discarded ad infinitum. On the contrary, they must be addressed before any other issue, if this world is to survive. Please check on gw's Population policy, and PopCo for an economic and social revolution. 14/01 2009: Norvegian doctors say Israel uses Gaza as military "test laboratory"

The death of close to 400 women and children from Gaza, and countless others seriousely injured, marks a dramatic moment in History that will not be forgotten soon. Jerry Lee is consterned by the facts on the ground, and no words can express the surrow caused by the useless loss of human lifes. The hurt that the Israelis inflict to the injured and their families, as well as to the relatives of the innocent dead, is as much Israel's biggest and dumbest mistake, as America's and Europe's own political failure. Jerry Lee, therefore, makes the pledge to always refer to Gaza's victims, whenever miseries caused by Israel's foolish military campains will beat down upon the Earth. A French medic tells about the situation in Gaza. Please, read GlobDemons to understand human nature, and gw's policy on Israel and Palestine. Underlying story: GA-January 14, 2009 |
06/01 2009: Israeli tanks push deeper into Gaza with a view to destroy Hamas

Camping on traditional positions such as urging maximum restraint, condemning acts of violence, or accusing one party of the world's miseries is not going to bring back peace. Governments must reflect on the basics, and ask themselves how human nature is ruled. They must study the root causes of violence, recognize them and come up with scientific, philosophical and apolitical solutions before presenting them to the public. Violence generates more violence. So what is pushing Israel to invade Gaza instead of making peace? Is it to mimic a failed US-strategy in Iraq? Or is it a lack of confidence in human nature? While we know the atrocities of the past, with an attitude of disproportionate violence, Israel sets itself above Palestinians, and engages in a logic of destruction common to war-like adversaries. The result: one Israeli death for 100 Palestinians! Therefore, Jerry Lee begs Israel - one more time - to stop disproportionate violence, open up to the people of Palestine - to which Hamas belongs - and sit down to talk about Peace. Peace is something that needs to be worked on. It is not so much about friendship or even trust. It's a naive, but sincere illusion. The illusion of safety, respect and liberty. Please, read GlobDemons to understand human nature, and gw's policy on Israel and Palestine. Underlying story: GA-January 6, 2009 |
